Selangor - Places of Interests
Gombak Orang Asli Centre, Selangor
Situated at the 20th km mark on Jalan Gombak after Batu Caves, this settlement nestles amidst secondary forest and features an Orang Asli Museum and Craft Shop. Visitors can have an insightful glimpse into the lifestyle and social culture of Selangor's "original people" that is fast-disappearing with development and modernisation.

Sultan Salahudin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, Selangor
The Sultan Salahudin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque is a magnificent architectural wonder. Its mammoth blue dome, one of the largest in the world, is the first imposing feature that will catch the visitor's eyes. The mosque also has the tallest minarets in the world at 142.3 metres. It features a design that incorporates traditional Islamic and contemporary Malay styles.

Batu Caves, Selangor
Only 13 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur's central business district and just outside the city limits, these famous caverns are easily accessible. The main Temple Cave has a ceiling looming over 100 metres overhead, and features ornate Hindu shrines. To reach it one has to climb a steep flight of 272 steps, a feat performed by as many as 100,000 devotees during the annual Thaipusam festival.

It is a spectacle to behold during Thaipusam, which is usually falls in the month of January or February.

Bukit Melawati
Located in Kuala Selangor, a coastal town located about 64 km northwest of Kuala Lumpur, it is an ideal destination for those seeking a blend of history, local flavour, nature and wildlife.

Bukit Melawati is the highest point in the area which is the site of 200 year old Fort Altingsburg built by the Dutch, a lighthouse and the official residence of District Officer. Panaromic views of the Straits of Melaka and surroundings can be enjoyed from here. It was from this vantage spot that the Dutch surveyed the surrounding countryside before capturing it in 1794. A royal mausoleum is also in the vicinity.

A short distance away is Taman Alam and Kuala Selangor. Taman Alam
A short distance away from Kuala Selangor, is this nature reserve covering 240 hectares. Jungle trails, trekking and bird watching is popular activities. Some 130 bird species have been identified here.

Kampung Kuantan Fire-Flies, Selangor
A few kilometers away from Kuala Selangor where spectacular fireflies display takes place at dusk. Take a boat from Bukit Belimbing to see the fireflies flickering like Christmas lights on mangrove trees lining the banks of Selangor river.

Recommended to take a tour for this destination.

Sunway Lagoon
Located in Bandar Sunway, it is a theme park with water-based attractions like giant waterslides, twin speed slides, double twisters, wave pool, etc. Wild, Wild West theme has also been included in this theme park.

Dry adventure activities such as Ride in Apache Pots, nerve testing Flying Carpets, sky riding Galleon, runaway train and pedestrian suspension bridge are also available. Open from 12 noon - 7.30 p.m. on Monday - Friday.
Closed on Tuesday.
Open from 10.a.m. - 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, Public & School Holidays.
Admission (Adults) - RM 18 (Waterpark), RM 32 (Drypark) & RM 50 for all parks.

Mines Wonderland
A family oriented theme park located along Jalan Sungai Besi, south of Kuala Lumpur on the fringe of a huge lake. Its main attraction is the dazzling musical fountain and multi coloured laser show held at 7.30 p.m. It also features a Snow House and other amusement thrills.

Adjoining this wonderland is Mines Shopping Fair. Take a water taxi from the theme park to this shopping center to enjoy the scenic views of the lake.

To get to Mines Wonderland, take KTM Komuter from KL Railway Station and alight at Serdang Station. It is walking distance from here.

Open from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays & 4.p.m - 11.p.m on Public Holidays and weekends.

Shah Alam Lake Gardens
Shah Alam is located 25 km southwest of Kuala Lumpur. Lake Gardens is a combination of several inter-connected manmade lakes and landscaped gardens with picnic areas. A floating seafood restaurant stands on the fringe of the lake.

In the vicinity is the Wet-World theme park.

Wet-World
A water theme park that offers recreational rides such as Monsoon Buster, an uphill watercoaster that rises and dips 222 metres.

Open 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. daily except on Wednesday. Weekends 10a.m. - 8 p.m.

Malaysia Agricultural Park
Malaysia's first agricultural park on 1,258 hectares of land space. You can reach here by bus or taxi from KL. The park offers a glimpse of agricultural resources such as oil palm, cocoa, coffee, fruit trees, spice & beverage garden, a bird park, a deer park, and many more.

Bicycles are available for hire for your own ride.

Accommodation for extended stay is also available.
